  • Using AQIP Quality Tools to Implement Faculty Assignments

    • Dolores Sharpe, Mott Community College
    • Steve Robinson, Mott Community College
    • Like many institutions with unionized faculty and staff, Mott Community College has many computer processes that are governed by complex contractual requirements. The Faculty collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is full of differing loads, overloads and pay types along with a complicated formula for spring and summer teaching that only a few truly understood. For many years, faculty assignments were coded and calculated outside of Datatel. Due to the expiration of a legacy system that calculated the assignments, our college faced a crucial deadline to bring the previously-unused Datatel Faculty Assignment module online.

This session will provide our experience of launching Faculty Assignments using continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes and tools we've learned through our participation the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). Our process brought together a variety of stakeholders from Human Resources, Accounting, Institutional Research, Academics and Information Technology Services to create buy-in, ultimately establishing a collaborative team environment that continues to thrive.
